Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeepa has recently voiced his concerns regarding the "cameo culture" prevalent in the film industry, expressing his disappointment over the lack of reciprocity from fellow actors. In a recent interview, the actor highlighted that while he frequently makes cameo appearances in other language films, artists from those industries rarely reciprocate by acting in Kannada films.

Sudeepa, who is known for his roles in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, emphasized that this should be a "two-way effort," but he doesn't see that happening currently. He revealed that he has personally requested a few artists to appear in his films, but his requests did not materialize.

"We are doing cameos in other languages, but artists are not coming and acting in our films," Sudeepa stated in the interview. "I even requested some artists personally, but it didn't work out. It should be a two-way effort, but I don't see that happening right now".

To illustrate his point, Sudeepa cited the example of Shivarajkumar acting in Jailer, showcasing how collaboration across industries should ideally occur. He also shared instances where he prioritized friendship over monetary gains, such as his role in Dabangg 3, where he acted at the personal request of Salman Khan and did not accept any payment. Similarly, he mentioned his involvement in Puli due to his friendship with Thalapathy Vijay.

The actor's remarks come at a time when his latest film, Mark, has been released in theaters on December 25, 2025. In the film, Sudeepa plays Ajay Markandayya, a suspended police officer who returns to duty to combat a network of gangsters and corrupt politicians. Mark marks the second collaboration between Sudeepa and director Vijay Kartikeyaa, following their previous venture, Max.

Sudeepa's career began in 1997 with the film Thayavva, and he gained recognition with the 2000 film Sparsha. He earned the nickname "Kichcha" from the 2003 hit film Kiccha. His work in other language films includes Phoonk (Hindi, 2008), Rakta Charitra (Telugu-Hindi bilingual, 2010), and Eega (2012).

Beyond acting, Sudeepa has expressed interest in directing and producing films. He has also spoken about adapting to the changing landscape of cinema, emphasizing the need for speed, discipline, and constant effort from actors and technicians. Sudeepa's upcoming projects include Billa Ranga Baasha, slated for release in 2026, and a cameo appearance in Dhruva Sarja's film KD: The Devil.
