Priyanka Chopra's journey to Hollywood stardom was marked by humility and a willingness to start from the ground up, according to her manager, Anjula Acharia. Despite being a major Bollywood star, Chopra understood the need to reintroduce herself to the American entertainment industry.

Acharia recounted instances where Chopra's humility shone through, recalling how the actress approached networking and meetings with a down-to-earth attitude. In a recent podcast, Acharia revealed that when she planned to launch Chopra in the West, people called the idea of bringing a "brown Bollywood star in America" crazy. Acharia remembered feeling heartbroken during early meetings, watching Chopra introduce herself to industry assistants, even at magazines where she had already been on the cover. "Imagine you are with the Beyoncé of a country and nobody else knows she is the Beyoncé — just you," Acharia stated, emphasizing the contrast between Chopra's established status in India and her fresh start in Hollywood.

Acharia noted that Chopra resisted the urge to bypass early networking steps. "There have been many times when I've said, 'We don't need to do that,' and she's been like, 'Yeah, we do,'" Acharia said, highlighting Chopra's insistence on engaging with everyone, regardless of their position. Acharia credited Chopra for teaching her humility throughout the process.

The manager shared a specific anecdote, recalling how Chopra made a point of connecting with the "assistant of the assistant" to build relationships. This approach, Acharia explained, was instrumental in establishing Chopra's presence in Hollywood. People told Acharia she was stupid when she brought Chopra to America, stating that she couldn't break a brown Bollywood star in America.

Chopra's Hollywood journey began in 2015 when she signed with an American talent agency and secured the lead role in the ABC action-thriller series Quantico. The success of Quantico provided her with a foothold in Hollywood, paving the way for roles in films such as Baywatch, The Matrix Resurrections, The White Tiger, and Heads of State. She also earned acclaim for her performance in the 2022 spy-thriller series Citadel.

Reflecting on her decade in Hollywood, Chopra acknowledged the challenges of navigating two major film industries. Despite achieving global success, she noted that her Bollywood filmography offered more creative diversity. Chopra expressed her hope to bring the same variety to her English-language roles. Chopra is set to appear in The Bluff, an action thriller, and S.S. Rajamouli's Varanasi. She will also be seen in Judgement Day.
