Diljit Dosanjh Shares Nostalgia: Watching Border on TV Due to Lack of Funds for Theatre Experience.

In a recent social media post, Diljit Dosanjh, one of the stars of the newly released "Border 2," shared a heartfelt anecdote about his connection to the original "Border" film. Released in 1997, "Border" became a cultural phenomenon, but Dosanjh revealed that he couldn't afford to watch it in theaters at the time.

Dosanjh posted a video on X, which was later widely shared by fans, recalling his experience. "I remember when the first 'Border' came, so many people around me went to watch it, but I couldn't because I didn't have the money for it," he said in the video. He further explained that his family also didn't have enough money to spare for him to see the film. Despite his desire to see the movie, financial constraints prevented him from doing so. "I really wanted to watch the film then. Little did I know that I would get the chance to be in the film one day," Dosanjh shared.

Now, years later, Dosanjh stars in "Border 2," a sequel to the 1997 film. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by JP Dutta and Bhushan Kumar, was released on January 23, 2026. "Border 2" features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.

In the same video, Dosanjh expressed his admiration for Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the real-life hero whose life inspired his character in "Border 2". "Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon ji's character, what a wonderful character! If you have never read about him, some people know about it, but you should definitely read and understand his life," Dosanjh urged his followers.

"Border 2" is based on India's response to Pakistan's Operation Changez Khan during the 1971 war. The film has received positive reviews, with critics praising the performances of the cast, particularly Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh. Taran Adarsh lauded the film as "OUTSTANDING," describing it as a "thunderous, emotionally charged war epic" that honors the legacy of the original. Another review notes that Diljit Dosanjh is the soul of the film and brings a needed vulnerability.

Despite some criticism regarding the visual effects and length, "Border 2" has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, with many calling it one of the best war films in recent years. The film opened at ₹30 crore and stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty.
