A new trailer for "Young Sherlock" has dropped, showcasing Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a rebellious, younger version of the iconic detective in 1870s Oxford. The eight-part series, directed and executive-produced by Guy Ritchie, known for his work on the Robert Downey Jr. "Sherlock Holmes" films, is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.

The trailer offers a glimpse into Sherlock's early life, long before he became the legendary Baker Street resident. Set against the backdrop of Oxford, the show portrays a raw and unfiltered Sherlock, who finds himself embroiled in a murder case where he is the prime suspect. The series follows 19-year-old Holmes's early adventures as he attends the University of Oxford.

As the official synopsis states, Holmes's first case will unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy, culminating in an explosive showdown that will forever change his life. This journey takes him from Oxford to international locations, exposing the antics of the yet-to-be-refined detective. He is described as disgraced, raw, impulsive, and lacking discipline.

The trailer also teases the dynamic between Holmes and his future nemesis, James Moriarty, played by Dónal Finn. Other cast members include Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou'an, Joseph Fiennes as Silas Holmes, Natascha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.

"Young Sherlock" is inspired by Andy Lane's "Young Sherlock Holmes" novels and reimagines Arthur Conan Doyle's detective in his late teens. Matthew Parkhill serves as executive producer and showrunner for the series.

Filming for the show took place in Oxford in August 2024, causing temporary road closures in areas such as Merton Street, Oriel Square and New College Lane.

While there's no concrete evidence in Conan Doyle's original stories that Holmes attended Oxford, some scholars have suggested either Oxford or Cambridge as possibilities. The series presents a fresh take, diving into Holmes's first case with a wild lack of discipline, as he navigates a murder mystery at Oxford University that puts his freedom at risk.

All eight episodes of "Young Sherlock" will be available on Prime Video on March 4, 2026, in over 240 countries and territories.
