The online backlash included criticism of Chamola's dance moves and questions about the appropriateness of her behavior, with some users even making personal remarks. Some social media users suggested she was "crossing lines" despite being married. This led to rumors about trouble in her marriage with Gaurav Khanna.

Chamola has now responded to the controversy, asserting that simply not cheating in a relationship is a basic expectation. Gaurav Khanna has defended his wife, clarifying that the women Akanksha was dancing with were members of his publicist's team, celebrating their success.
