Starting June 8, 2025, the Philippines is welcoming Indian tourists with a visa-free entry policy, a move that aims to significantly boost tourism from India. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has announced that Indian nationals can now enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism purposes, making it easier than ever to explore the country's diverse attractions.

Under this new policy, Indian citizens can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 14 days. To avail of this privilege, tourists need to present a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay, a confirmed hotel accommodation or booking, proof of financial capacity to cover their expenses, and a return or onward ticket to their next destination. This streamlined process is designed to encourage more Indian travelers to experience the Philippines' renowned hospitality and natural beauty.

For Indian nationals holding valid visas or residence permits from the United States, Australia, Canada, Schengen countries, Singapore, or the United Kingdom (collectively known as AJACSSUK), the visa-free stay can be even longer. Those eligible under this category can stay in the Philippines for up to 30 days without a visa. The requirements for this extended stay are a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and a return or onward ticket.

The Philippine government's decision to implement this visa-free policy reflects its commitment to strengthening ties with India and tapping into the growing Indian tourism market. In 2024, the Philippines saw a 12% increase in tourist arrivals from India, with nearly 80,000 visitors. However, Indian tourists still represent a relatively small fraction of the over five million travelers who visited Southeast Asia last year, indicating significant potential for further growth.

The DFA has clarified that these updated visa-free privileges are available at any Philippine port of entry. However, the visa-free entry is strictly for tourism purposes and cannot be extended or converted to a visa-based stay or any other admission status. Additionally, Indian nationals must have no derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration to be admitted into the country without a visa. Those intending to transit through the Philippines or enter for long-term visits and non-tourism activities will still need to apply for the appropriate Philippine visa at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate. Indian nationals eligible for e-Visas can also apply through the official Philippine e-Visa website.

In related news that will further facilitate travel between the two countries, Air India is set to launch non-stop flights between Delhi and Manila starting October 1, 2025. The airline will operate five weekly flights using Airbus A321neo aircraft, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. This new route will make Air India the only carrier providing direct connectivity between India and the Philippines, further boosting tourism and strengthening bilateral relations.
