The father of the survivor in the Kolkata gangrape case has publicly demanded the strictest punishment for the accused, including the prime accused, Monojit Mishra. This demand comes amidst growing public outcry over the alleged gangrape of a law student in South Kolkata.

Details of the Incident and Investigation

The incident occurred on June 25, when the 24-year-old first-year law student was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a security guard's room at South Calcutta Law College. According to the FIR, the accused had asked her to stay back at the campus, then proposed marriage and lured her outside the Union room. The survivor stated that she was blackmailed with a video and forced into the room where the assault took place.

Kolkata Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case, including Monojit Mishra, an alumnus of the college, and a security guard. Two other individuals, believed to be seniors at the college, are accused of assisting Mishra. The police have filed charges of gangrape, assault, and wrongful confinement.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities collecting digital evidence, including CCTV footage. A CCTV footage has been recovered where the victim is being forcibly dragged by the accused. Forensic teams have also recovered blood stains from the college's common room and seized a hockey stick. The survivor's statement has been recorded before a magistrate.

Survivor's Father's Plea and Public Reaction

The survivor's father has expressed full faith in the Kolkata Police and has called for capital punishment for the accused. He stated that he wants nothing but the highest punishment for Monojit Mishra and the others involved. A maternal uncle of the victim echoed this sentiment, demanding that the accused not be granted bail.

The father of one of the accused has also spoken out, stating that he believes his son should receive strong punishment if his involvement is proven. He affirmed his faith in the Kolkata Police's investigation.

Developments and Actions Taken

The West Bengal Bar Council has revoked the license of Monojit Mishra, barring him from practicing law. This decision follows the emergence of Mishra as the prime accused and revelations of his past misconduct.

Medical Evidence

Medical examinations have corroborated the survivor's allegations, with doctors finding evidence of forceful penetration, bite marks, and nail scratches. Officials confirmed that the injuries on her body were consistent with the assault.
