In Purnea, Bihar, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav embarked on a "Voter Adhikaar Yatra," riding motorbikes to raise voter awareness and address concerns about irregularities in voter rolls. The yatra, aimed at saving votes, the Constitution, and democracy, commenced in Sasaram on August 17 and is scheduled to conclude in Arrah on August 30, passing through various districts including Gaya, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Madhubani, Darbhanga, and Pashchim Champaran.

The 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra' is a 13-day campaign against alleged vote theft and the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list carried out by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Bihar. Rahul Gandhi accused the Nitish Kumar government of working to weaken the poor. He stated that the government waived loans worth ₹16 lakh crore for 22 industrialists, but when the poor ask for something, they are turned away.

Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi are urging citizens to exercise their voting rights, emphasizing the importance of informed voting in shaping the future of Bihar and India. They are engaging with local communities through rallies and speeches.

The Congress party is also organizing a 'Save Democracy Torch Procession' in all district headquarters across the country. Furthermore, a 'Mega Voter Adhikar Rally' is planned for September 1 at Patna's Gandhi Maidan.

This yatra marks Rahul Gandhi's second major campaign, following the Bharat Jodo Yatra in February 2024. The 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' underscores the opposition's commitment to ensuring that power remains with the people and is not seized by those working for divisive forces.
