Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, currently filming "Battle of Galwan" in Ladakh, made a courtesy visit to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, at Raj Niwas in Leh on Saturday. The visit, which took place on September 13, 2025, has sparked considerable buzz and the photographs from the meeting have gone viral.

Khan, dressed in a casual blue shirt and denim jeans, was photographed smiling alongside Lieutenant Governor Gupta. The Office of the Lt. Governor of Ladakh also acknowledged the visit on their official X handle, stating, "Bollywood icon Salman Khan paid a courtesy visit to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor Shri @KavinderGupta at the Raj Niwas, #Leh".

During the visit, Gupta presented Khan with a Thangka Canvas painting, a traditional Buddhist art piece that depicts the life of Buddha. The Lieutenant Governor lauded Khan's contributions to Indian cinema and his philanthropic work. Discussions during the meeting also centered on promoting Ladakh as a unique tourist destination, emphasizing its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Gupta highlighted the Union Territory Administration's efforts to boost tourism in Ladakh, particularly in the areas of adventure tourism, film shooting, and eco-tourism, noting the region's stunning landscapes are a major draw for filmmakers. The administration has been supporting film activities in Ladakh to showcase its landscapes and provide opportunities for local talent. Khan expressed his gratitude to the UT Administration for their support and praised the hospitality of the people of Ladakh, also expressing his admiration for the region's beauty.

Khan is currently in Ladakh filming "Battle of Galwan," a film based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Khan announced the commencement of shooting earlier this month on social media, sharing a picture of himself behind a clapperboard with the film's title. Pictures have also surfaced of Khan posing with soldiers in Leh. One widely circulated photo shows Khan smiling with a group of uniformed soldiers, while another captures him standing with a soldier's family.

Khan has described the film as physically demanding, requiring significant training. "It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I've to give more time now (for training). Earlier, I would do it (train) in one or two weeks; now I'm running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that,” he said.

"Battle of Galwan" carries high expectations, especially after some of Khan's recent films have not performed well at the box office. Films like 'Tiger 3' and 'Sikandar,' released earlier in 2025, did not meet expectations.

In "Battle of Galwan," Khan is seen in combat fatigues, reflecting the attire worn during the Galwan stand-off in 2020-2021. The old Personal Camouflage Disruptive Pattern Material (PC DPM) uniform is used in the film, although it was replaced by the New Battle Dress Uniform (NBDU) of the INCAM (Indian National Camouflage) in 2022. The film's music is being composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

The original Battle of Galwan was a significant confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in 2020, resulting in casualties on both sides and marking the first fatalities in the Sino-Indian border conflict in nearly 45 years.

Besides "Battle of Galwan", Salman Khan's film "Sikandar" is slated to release in 2025.
