A senior official from the Union Ministry of Finance, Navtoj Singh, died, and his wife, Sandeep Kaur, was seriously injured in Delhi on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after a BMW car hit their motorcycle. The accident occurred on Ring Road near the Delhi Cantt metro station.

Navtoj Singh, 52, was the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. He and his wife were returning home on their bike from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara when the accident took place.

Police reported that they received three calls about a traffic jam near metro pillar number 67 on the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt metro station stretch. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a BMW lying sideways on the road and a motorcycle parked near the road divider.

Eyewitnesses told police that a woman was driving the BMW when it hit the motorcycle from behind. The woman and her husband, who was with her, rushed the injured couple to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar, which is approximately 17 kilometers away from the accident site.

Navtoj Singh was declared dead at the hospital, while his wife is undergoing treatment for serious injuries. The couple's son alleges that his parents were taken to a hospital far from the accident site and that the hospital is being evasive about the BMW driver's whereabouts, potentially helping her create a false medico-legal certificate.

Police have seized the BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident. A crime team and forensic experts have examined the accident site. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is underway. The BMW driver and her husband, who are residents of Gurugram, were also injured and are hospitalized; their statements have not yet been recorded.

The accident caused disruption of traffic in the area.
