A senior official from the Union Ministry of Finance, Navjot Singh, tragically died on September 14, 2025, after a BMW allegedly collided with his motorcycle near the Delhi Cantonment metro station. The accident, which occurred on Ring Road, also left Singh's wife seriously injured.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 1 PM near metro pillar number 67 on the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt stretch, causing a traffic jam. Upon arrival, authorities found a BMW X5 lying sideways on the road and the motorcycle near the divider. Eyewitnesses stated that a woman was driving the BMW when it hit the motorcycle from behind. Singh was driving the motorcycle, with his wife as the passenger.

The driver of the BMW has been identified as Gaganpreet, with her husband, Parikshit, in the passenger seat. Both are residents of Gurugram. Following the accident, Gaganpreet and Parikshit transported the injured couple in a taxi to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar, approximately 17 kilometers from the site. Singh was declared dead upon arrival, while his wife is currently undergoing treatment for critical injuries. The BMW driver and her husband also sustained injuries and are hospitalized. Their statements have not yet been recorded by the police.

The family of Navjot Singh has raised concerns regarding the decision to transport them to a hospital so far away from the accident site. Singh's son alleged that a closer hospital could have saved his father's life. He also claimed that his mother was left unattended in the lobby while Parikshit, the BMW driver's husband, received immediate attention for minor injuries. Furthermore, he alleges that the hospital is being evasive about the whereabouts of Gaganpreet and is helping to create a false medico-legal certificate for her.

Authorities have seized both the BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident. The accident site was examined by a crime team, and forensic experts were called to assist in the investigation. An FIR has been registered, and a thorough investigation is underway. Police are working to determine the sequence of events and circumstances leading up to the crash.

The incident caused disruption to traffic in the area, which was later restored after the vehicles were removed. Navjot Singh's death has been met with condolences, including from the Central Secretariat Services Forum President Udit Arya, who urged a thorough investigation and justice for the family.
