A private school in Nashik's Indiranagar area was the target of a bomb threat delivered via email on Monday, September 15, 2025. The threat caused considerable panic before being declared a hoax after a thorough investigation.
The Indiranagar Police Station received the threatening email around 2:45 AM on Monday. The email claimed that three bombs had been planted within the school premises, specifically near the toilet area. Upon receiving the threat, the school administration promptly alerted the police.
Law enforcement responded swiftly, with senior officers from the Indiranagar police station and a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team rushing to the school. Inspector Trupti Sonawane confirmed that the police took immediate action upon being informed by the school administration and called in the bomb squad to follow standard operating procedures.
The BDDS team conducted a comprehensive search of the school premises for nearly two hours. The school was evacuated as a precautionary measure during the search, with approximately 3,700 students present at the time. Parents were notified and asked to pick up their children, leading to significant congestion and traffic jams around the school. One parent described the scene as "utter chaos" as parents rushed to collect their children, who were waiting without their bags or lunchboxes.
Following the extensive search, the BDDS team confirmed that no explosive materials were found on the school grounds. The police declared the threat a hoax and assured the public that there was no danger to the school.
The cyber police have been enlisted to trace the origin of the fake email address used to send the threat. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to identify the individual or group responsible for the hoax.
Despite the disruption and anxiety caused by the incident, the school administration released a statement confirming the hoax and reassuring the community. Normal school activities have resumed, and no further threats have been reported.
