The tragic death of Navjot Singh, a senior Finance Ministry officer, in a Delhi road accident has taken a dramatic turn, with a close friend revealing a poignant detail about a delayed birthday gift. Navjot Singh, 52, died after a speeding BMW struck his motorcycle on Ring Road in Delhi. His wife, Sandeep Kaur, is critically injured and undergoing treatment.

Gaganpreet Kaur, the 38-year-old BMW driver, has been arrested and charged with culpable homicide, rash driving, and destruction of evidence. Her husband, Parikshit Makkad, 40, who was in the car with her, has also been named in the First Information Report (FIR). The couple reportedly runs a luxury products business in Gurugram.

Adding a layer of sorrow to the already tragic situation, a close friend of Navjot revealed that a gift Navjot had ordered for his son's birthday arrived on the day of the accident. The friend shared that the gift had been delayed and its arrival on this particular day felt like a cruel twist of fate.

The accident occurred near the Delhi Cantt metro station when the BMW, allegedly traveling at a high speed, hit Navjot's motorcycle from behind. According to eyewitnesses, the BMW was moving at a terrifyingly high speed, possibly over 100 km/hour. The impact caused the car to smash into the central divider, flip sideways, and slam into the motorcycle.

Following the accident, Gaganpreet Kaur and her husband allegedly transported Navjot and his injured wife to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, approximately 19 kilometers away from the accident site. This decision has sparked outrage and raised serious questions, as several hospitals were much closer to the scene. Family members allege that the hospital is owned by acquaintances of the accused, leading to suspicions of a deliberate attempt to delay treatment and potentially tamper with evidence.

Navjot's son believes his father's life could have been saved if he had been taken to a nearby super-specialty hospital. Reports indicate that Navjot and his wife were transported in an Omni van with Porter signage. At the hospital, there was a delay in providing a stretcher, and it took almost five hours for Navjot to get a bed. He was declared dead upon arrival.

Delhi Police have registered an FIR and are investigating the case from all angles. They have seized the BMW and are analyzing CCTV footage to determine the speed of the vehicle. They are also investigating why the victims were taken to a hospital so far away. Questions are also being raised about a possible cover-up, with allegations that a medical-legal document was being prepared. Authorities have collected blood samples from Gaganpreet Kaur and are awaiting forensic reports.
