Rajit Gupta from Kota has emerged as the All India Rank 1 in the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. The results, declared by IIT Kanpur on June 2, 2025, mark a significant achievement for Rajit and the coaching hub of Kota, Rajasthan. He scored an impressive 332 out of 360. Equally impressive, Saksham Jindal also from the IIT Delhi zone, secured AIR 2 with the same score.
Approximately 1.8 lakh students appeared for the JEE Advanced exam this year, vying for 17,740 seats across 23 IITs in the country. Out of these, 54,378 candidates qualified. The exam was conducted on May 18 in two shifts.
Rajit Gupta's success underscores Kota's reputation as a premier destination for engineering exam preparation. In fact, three other students from Kota have secured positions within the top 10, including Saksham Jindal (AIR 2), Akshat Kumar Chaurasia (AIR 6), and Devesh Pankaj Bhaiya (AIR 8).
Rajit Gupta is a resident of Mahavir Nagar-III in Kota. His father, Deepak Gupta, is an engineer with the BSNL department, and his mother, Dr. Shruti Agarwal, is a professor at JDB Girls College in Kota. This is the first time a student from Kota's coaching industry has achieved this. Notably, Ved Lahoti, also from Kota, achieved this feat in 2024, marking the second consecutive year a Kota student has topped the JEE Advanced. Rajit had earlier secured 100 percentile in the JEE Main January session and AIR 16 in the April session.
Rajit Gupta has credited his teachers and the structured study material provided by his coaching institute for his success. He prepared under the mentorship of the Allen Career Institute. He emphasized the importance of not repeating past mistakes, as correcting errors strengthens one's foundation in the subject. Rajit also believes that "happiness is the key to success" and tries to stay happy in every situation. He shared that he plays with children in his colony whenever he finds the time.
Unlike many JEE aspirants who adhere to strict study schedules, Rajit followed a more relaxed approach, focusing on understanding concepts and avoiding mistakes rather than adhering to a rigid routine. Rajit's academic achievements extend beyond JEE. He secured 96.8% in his Class 10 exams and represented India at the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2024 in Malaysia, where he won a bronze medal. He has also been selected to participate in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).
Devdutta Majhi from the IIT Kharagpur zone emerged as the top-performing female candidate, securing the 16th rank overall with 312 marks.
Following the announcement of the JEE Advanced results, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will commence the counselling process for admissions into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The online counselling will be conducted in six rounds, starting from June 3 and continuing until July 28.
