The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released a special module on Operation Sindoor for students in classes 3 to 12. The module aims to educate students about India's defense strategy and diplomatic response following the Pahalgam terror attack. It describes Operation Sindoor as "not just a military operation but a promise to protect peace and honour the lives lost".
The NCERT module is divided into two parts, one for students in classes 3 to 8 and another for students in classes 9 to 12. These modules, approximately 8-10 pages in length, will focus on India's strategic military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The content is designed to be age-appropriate, weaving together historical context, India's military achievements, and the nation's future aspirations.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This operation was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people. Indian armed forces executed precision strikes on nine terror launchpads across Pakistan, including major hubs linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke. The strikes also targeted key Pakistani military facilities, such as the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi and the Rahim Yar Khan airbase.
According to the module, the operation was ordered by Pakistan's military and political leadership, despite public denials of involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack. The module highlights India's military might and how Pakistan was routed.
The NCERT has also created modules on other topics, such as COVID-19 and its effects, India's digital success, the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the 2023 G20 conference in India, and Swachhata. These modules provide schools with extra content beyond textbooks, incorporating stories, exercises, and examples to highlight the subject matter.
