A shocking incident unfolded on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 28-year-old man, identified as Shankar, allegedly beheaded his 26-year-old wife, Manasa, over suspicions of infidelity. The gruesome act occurred in Heelalige village, near Chandapura in Anekal taluk. Following the murder, Shankar surrendered to the Suryanagar police station, carrying his wife's severed head.
According to police reports, Shankar suspected Manasa of having an extramarital affair, which led to frequent arguments between the couple. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was premeditated. It has been revealed that Shankar had purchased a sickle from a local shop prior to the attack.
Reports indicate that on June 3, Shankar left for work and returned home late at night where he allegedly found Manasa with her boyfriend, which triggered a violent altercation. Shankar reportedly attacked both Manasa and her alleged lover. Some sources indicate that he had previously asked Manasa to leave due to the situation. However, she continued to visit, causing further disturbances.
On the night of the incident, another argument broke out, leading to the fatal attack. Enraged, Shankar allegedly beheaded Manasa and then proceeded to the Suryanagar police station on his scooter with her severed head, where he confessed to the crime. Police officers on duty near the Chandapura-Anekal main road stopped Shankar after noticing his bloodstained clothes.
The couple, who had been in a love marriage, had recently moved to a rented house in Heelalige village. They have a four-year-old daughter. Manasa was employed in Bommasandra, while Shankar worked in Koramangala. Following the surrender, Shankar was immediately arrested, and a murder case has been registered. Authorities are currently investigating the crime scene and are exploring all possible angles, including the involvement of Manasa's alleged lover.
