India's Vigil: Ensuring Student Safety Amid Rising Iran-Israel Tensions, Relocating Students to Secure Zones.

In response to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that it is closely monitoring the security situation to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals residing in both countries. As a precautionary measure, Indian students in Iran are being relocated to safer locations within the country, with the Indian Embassy in Tehran actively facilitating these movements.

The MEA has confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously assessing the security landscape and maintaining close contact with Indian students to guarantee their safety. With airstrikes and missile exchanges intensifying, the embassy is taking proactive steps to relocate students to safer areas. Furthermore, the MEA has indicated that it is exploring other feasible options to ensure the security of Indian citizens in the region.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has also established communication channels with community leaders throughout Iran to address the welfare of Indian citizens. In light of recent events, the embassy has urged all Indian nationals to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay connected through an official Telegram channel created specifically for Indians in Iran.

The Indian Embassy in Israel has similarly issued an advisory, urging Indian nationals to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols advised by local authorities and Israel's Home Front Command. The embassy has emphasized that it is maintaining close contact with local authorities and closely monitoring developments.

These measures come in response to heightened hostilities between Israel and Iran, which have included airstrikes and missile exchanges. Reports indicate that Israeli strikes have resulted in casualties and damage to infrastructure in Iran, while retaliatory measures have also impacted Israel.

Given the evolving situation, the MEA is expected to continue issuing advisories and updates as necessary. Indian nationals in the region are strongly encouraged to remain alert, follow official guidance, and limit outdoor movement. The Indian Embassies in both Iran and Israel have established helpline numbers to provide assistance to Indian citizens.

The situation has particularly impacted Indian students in Iran, many of whom are pursuing professional courses such as MBBS. A significant number of these students are from Jammu and Kashmir, and their families have appealed to the Indian government for assistance in ensuring their safe return.

India has also called for de-escalation and diplomacy, urging both Iran and Israel to avoid further escalatory steps and utilize existing channels of dialogue to resolve underlying issues. The MEA has emphasized that India maintains close and friendly relations with both countries and stands ready to provide all possible support.

In addition to these efforts, India has distanced itself from a statement issued by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that condemned Israel's actions against Iran, reiterating its neutral stance and emphasizing the need for diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in West Asia.
