The Vancouver Canucks have secured a key piece of their roster by re-signing forward Brock Boeser to a seven-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $7.25 million. The team officially announced the deal on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, ensuring that Boeser, who would have become an unrestricted free agent, remains in Vancouver for the long term.

Boeser, now 28 years old, has spent his entire NHL career with the Canucks since being drafted in the first round (23rd overall) in 2015. Known for his offensive capabilities, the Burnsville, Minnesota native has consistently been a scoring threat for Vancouver. Through 554 career games, Boeser has recorded 204 goals and 230 assists.

Last season, Boeser scored 25 goals, a slight decrease from his career-high of 40 goals in the previous year. He finished the season with 50 points and a minus-25 rating, as the Canucks missed the playoffs.

Boeser was coming off a three-year contract that paid him $6.65 million annually. This new contract represents a raise for the forward and a significant commitment from the Canucks.

General Manager Patrik Allvin expressed his satisfaction in retaining Boeser, emphasizing his importance to the organization. "Brock has been a huge part of our organization, and we are extremely happy to have him back in".

The Canucks have also signed goaltender Thatcher Demko to a three-year contract extension worth $8.5 million AAV. Demko, 29, is coming off a career-best year in 2023-24, where he posted a .918 save percentage, a 2.45 goals-against average, and five shutouts, finishing second in Vezina Trophy voting.

With Boeser's contract finalized, the Canucks continue to shape their roster for the upcoming seasons. According to PuckPedia, the Canucks have $7,031,667 in projected cap space and a projected cap hit of $88,468,333. The team currently has an active roster of 22 players, with 38 players under contract. Notable players on the Canucks roster include Quinn Hughes (C), Evander Kane, Elias Pettersson (A), and Tyler Myers (A).

The Canucks have made other moves recently, including acquiring Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers. The team's current cap situation requires careful management to maintain flexibility for future moves and potential injuries. As the Canucks look ahead, securing Boeser for the long term solidifies their offensive core.
