The first look of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is set to be revealed on July 3, 2025. This mythological epic is highly anticipated and is planned for release in two parts, with the first part arriving in Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027.
The unveiling of the first look is planned to occur across nine major Indian cities simultaneously, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, and Kochi. This widespread launch highlights the film's ambition to reach a broad audience and create a nationwide cinematic moment.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Yash will be playing the role of Raavan. Other notable cast members include Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has already shared his initial review of the Ramayana teaser on X, noting that the glimpse of the timeless saga is awe-inspiring. He anticipates that Ramayana will resonate with audiences for generations and describes it as a box office hurricane. Adarsh also mentioned that the first glimpse is three minutes long, with a separate seven-minute vision showreel offering insights into the film's planning and execution to be released closer to the theatrical release.
Filming for the first part of Ramayana has been completed, and the second part is scheduled to begin shooting in August. Behind-the-scenes videos have surfaced on social media, capturing emotional moments between Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi Dubey, as well as a heartfelt speech by director Nitesh Tiwari.
Ranbir Kapoor, who considers playing Lord Ram as the most important role of his career, was seen expressing his gratitude to the cast and crew during the wrap ceremony. Sai Pallavi has been reportedly filming the emotionally intense Ashok Vatika sequence, where Sita was held captive by Raavan in Lanka.
Ramayana is being produced on a grand scale, with the visual effects being handled by Oscar-winning studio DNEG. The makers also intend to use advanced AI technology to localize the film for global audiences, enabling native lip-sync in multiple languages. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for his work in Dangal and Chhichhore, and produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
With the first look set to release, anticipation is building for this cinematic event.
