The incident occurred on June 25, when the 24-year-old first-year law student was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a security guard's room at South Calcutta Law College. According to the FIR, the accused had asked her to stay back at the campus, then proposed marriage and lured her outside the Union room. The survivor stated that she was blackmailed with a video and forced into the room where the assault took place.
Kolkata Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case, including Monojit Mishra, an alumnus of the college, and a security guard. Two other individuals, believed to be seniors at the college, are accused of assisting Mishra. The police have filed charges of gangrape, assault, and wrongful confinement.
