Munawar Faruqui Postpones Delhi Performance Due to Illness Following Celebration of His First Book's Success

Comedian Munawar Faruqui has postponed his scheduled Delhi show, citing health reasons. The show, part of his "Dhandho" tour, was set to take place on July 26th. Faruqui announced the postponement via his Instagram Stories, expressing his apologies and appreciation for his fans' continued support and patience. He assured ticket holders that they would receive updates from BookMyShow regarding rescheduling.

The announcement comes shortly after Faruqui celebrated the success of his debut web series, "First Copy". A premiere event was held in Mumbai to mark the show's positive reception across digital platforms. The event was attended by several actors and public figures, including former Bigg Boss contestants and television personalities. Videos and images from the success party circulated online, showing Faruqui and the cast celebrating the milestone.

"First Copy" is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon miniTV. The show is set in the 1990s and tells the story of a young man named Arif who becomes involved in film piracy during the video cassette era. Faruqui plays the lead role in the series. In addition to acting, Faruqui also addressed the issue of piracy through a campaign tied to the series, redirecting fake links to a message discouraging illegal viewing.

While the success of "First Copy" marks a positive turn in Faruqui's career, the postponement of his Delhi show adds to a history of canceled performances. In the past, some of Faruqui's shows have been canceled due to concerns over communal harmony and objections from Hindu groups. In 2022, a Delhi show was canceled after the Delhi Police denied permission citing apprehension regarding communal harmony in the area. Prior to that, a show in Bengaluru was also canceled, with Faruqui initially stating health reasons, though it later emerged that the cancellation followed police directions after opposition from a Hindu organization.

Faruqui's past controversies stem from his arrest in 2021 following complaints about allegedly making objectionable remarks about Hindu deities and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a show in Indore. These past incidents have often led to heightened security measures for his performances and, in some cases, cancellations.

Despite the current postponement, Faruqui remains active with his ongoing projects, and updates regarding the rescheduled Delhi performance are expected soon. Fans can follow his social media for further information. It is unknown when the new date for the Delhi show will be.
