The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the postponement of the remaining papers for the Chartered Accountants Final, Intermediate, and Post Qualification Course Examinations scheduled from May 9th to 14th, 2025, due to the prevailing tense security situation in the country.

The decision comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The situation has led to heightened cross-border threats and operational alerts across northern India. The Indian armed forces initiated "Operation Sindoor" in response to the April 22nd Pahalgam massacre, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan has reportedly increased unprovoked firing across the Line of Control, resulting in casualties. India has also retaliated to Pakistan's attempts to target key installations with drones and missiles.

Given the sensitive security landscape, ICAI has decided to postpone exams to ensure the safety and well-being of students. The cities where the CA Inter and CA Final May 2025 exams have been postponed include Chandigarh, Bhuj, Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Sri Ganganagar. These areas are located in high-alert zones and have seen intensified security measures, including blackouts and movement restrictions.

ICAI has stated that revised dates for the postponed exams will be announced in due course. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official ICAI website, www.icai.org, for updates.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has heightened security measures at airports in light of the rising tensions. While Delhi Airport operations remain normal, some flights may be affected due to changing airspace conditions and heightened security.

In addition to exam postponements, a high alert has been issued in Delhi, and the government has cancelled the leave of all government employees to ensure preparedness. Moga Mayor Baljit Singh has urged residents to cooperate with authorities and adhere to safety protocols.
