Rajinikanth's "Coolie" witnessed a significant drop in box office collections on its fifth day, earning an estimated ₹6.48 crore in India net across all languages. This brings the total India net collection to approximately ₹196.55 crore. While this figure represents a considerable decline compared to the film's opening day earnings of ₹65 crore, "Coolie" has still managed to cross the ₹200 crore mark in India and ₹300 crore worldwide. To break even, the film needs to gross ₹600 crore globally.

The movie, which was released on August 14, 2025, coinciding with Independence Day week and marking Rajinikanth's 50th year in the film industry, had a strong start, fueled by massive fan celebrations. Over the first four days, "Coolie" raked in an impressive ₹194.50 crore in India. The day-wise breakdown reveals ₹65 Cr on Day 1 (Thursday), ₹54.75 Cr on Day 2 (Friday), ₹39.5 Cr on Day 3 (Saturday), and ₹34 Cr on Day 4 (Sunday).

Despite the dip on Monday, "Coolie" has outperformed "War 2" on its fifth day, with "War 2" earning ₹4.38 crore. The Tamil occupancy on Monday was 30.32%, while Hindi occupancy was 11.95%.

"Coolie" is an action drama that tells a revenge story and marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir.

However, the film has received mixed reviews, with some critics pointing out its shortcomings. Some reviews suggest that "Coolie" is burdened by high expectations and suffers from an overstuffed plot with too many ideas. The cameos by Aamir Khan and Upendra, while exciting on paper, reportedly do not add much value to the narrative. Some critics also noted that the film has too many characters, and the writing doesn't allow the audience to get invested in their plights.

Despite the criticisms, Rajinikanth's charisma and screen presence, along with Anirudh Ravichander's music, have been praised as saving graces. The performances of Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj have also been highlighted.

Overall, "Coolie" has had a successful run at the box office, though it remains to be seen whether it can maintain its momentum and achieve its break-even target.
