Kapil Sharma's Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is set to re-release in theaters in January 2026, following its initial release on December 12, 2025. The decision to re-release the film comes after its box office performance was significantly impacted by the overwhelming success of Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, which was released a week prior on December 5, 2025. Dhurandhar dominated the box office, leaving limited screen availability for other films, including Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.
The makers of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 stated that the film's theatrical run was affected by multiplex takeovers by other releases. Producer Ratan Jain announced the re-release with a statement emphasizing the ongoing excitement of fans and the film's light-hearted comedy. The exact re-release date in January 2026 is yet to be announced.
Despite the competition, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 managed to earn ₹1.85 crore on its opening day and has grossed ₹12.31 crore in India. Worldwide, the film has grossed ₹15.75 crore, including ₹1.75 crore from overseas collections. However, these numbers are significantly lower than the original Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which earned ₹49.38 crore in India and ₹76.21 crore worldwide in 2015.
Trade analysts suggest that the re-release is a strategic move to provide the film with the breathing room it lacked during its initial run. The dominance of Dhurandhar, along with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, diverted Kapil Sharma's core family audience, particularly in North India. By re-releasing in January, the producers hope to capture the audience that missed the film during the holiday season, before the Republic Day releases.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 features Kapil Sharma alongside Hira Warina, Ayesha Khan, Tridha Choudhury, Manjot Singh, and Parul Gulati. The film is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain, and Abbas Mustan and directed by Anukalp Goswami. It is a sequel to the 2015 comedy film, which also starred Varun Sharma, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Sai Lokur, and Elli Avram. The film also holds sentimental value as it features the final on-screen appearance of veteran actor Asrani.
Actress Tridha Choudhury commented on the box office competition with Dhurandhar, stating that the two films belong to different genres. She expressed confidence that audiences would appreciate Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, especially with the trend of films moving to OTT platforms after their theatrical run.
The success of the re-release will depend on whether the audience chooses to watch it in theaters or wait for its OTT premiere. Trade experts believe that if marketed correctly as a clean family entertainer, Kapil Sharma could see a significant increase in the film's final numbers.
