Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rohit Sharma's opening partner, hospitalized following an injury sustained during the match.

In a concerning incident during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Mumbai and Uttarakhand in Jaipur on December 26, 2025, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the young Mumbai opener and Rohit Sharma's teammate, was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a significant injury while fielding. The 21-year-old Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player injured his neck and shoulder and suffered a concussion while attempting a difficult catch.

The incident occurred in the 30th over of Uttarakhand's innings, bowled by off-spinner Tanush Kotian. Right-handed batter Saurabh Rawat attempted a slog-sweep, and Raghuvanshi, who was positioned at deep mid-wicket, sprinted towards mid-wicket to get under the top edge. Despite a valiant, one-handed diving attempt to take the catch, Raghuvanshi fell heavily, hitting his head on the ground.

Witnesses reported that Raghuvanshi initially tried to get up but collapsed back onto the ground, prompting immediate attention from the Mumbai team physio. Recognizing the severity of the injury, medical staff called for a stretcher, and Raghuvanshi was carefully removed from the field. There was a noticeable delay in arranging the stretcher and ambulance, during which Raghuvanshi appeared to be in considerable pain and struggling to move his neck.

He was then transported to the nearby SDMH Hospital in Jaipur for CT scans and further evaluation. Initial reports suggest that Raghuvanshi suffered a concussion and an injury just below the neck.

Prior to the injury, Raghuvanshi opened the batting for Mumbai alongside Rohit Sharma. However, he was dismissed for 11 runs off 20 deliveries. Rohit Sharma also had a poor performance, being dismissed for a duck. In Mumbai's opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Sikkim, Raghuvanshi scored 38 runs.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi is considered a promising talent in Indian cricket and was retained by KKR ahead of the IPL 2026 season. He has played 22 matches for KKR, scoring 463 runs with two fifties.

Following the tests, Raghuvanshi was discharged from the hospital. According to a team source, all reports were normal, and he is doing fine, despite suffering a concussion. He has returned to the team hotel.

The Mumbai team and fans will be hoping for a swift recovery for the young batsman.
