Thalapathy Vijay, one of Tamil cinema's leading heroes, received a grand welcome in Malaysia ahead of the audio launch of his highly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan. The audio launch is scheduled for December 27 at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. The stadium can host close to 85,000 people. Jana Nayagan is widely believed to be Vijay's last film before he transitions to a full-time political career with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with the Pongal weekend.
Upon his arrival in Malaysia, Vijay was greeted with a Silat performance, Malaysia's national martial art, as a tribute to his presence and global popularity. The traditional performance, complete with music and powerful moves, highlighted Vijay's strong connection with his fans across the globe. Videos circulating on X show Vijay receiving a thunderous welcome, with fans erupting in cheers as he arrived at his hotel.
Vijay was accompanied by his mother, Shobha, and the film's music director, Anirudh Ravichander. They were welcomed by cultural dancers in colorful dresses performing folk dances. Vijay and Anirudh greeted the dancers with smiles and a traditional "namaste". A video of Vijay holding a Bluetooth speaker for the performers as they danced has gone viral. He also warmly greeted the artists, waving and thanking them for the welcome.
The audio launch event, dubbed "Thalapathy Thiruvizha," is planned in two segments. The first half will be a tribute concert featuring performances by nearly 30 singers. This will be followed by the official audio launch, where Vijay, director H. Vinoth, and other cast and crew members are expected to address the audience. The event is expected to be one of the biggest music launches in Indian film history. Anirudh will be performing live on stage for the first time.
In addition to Anirudh, the audio launch is set to feature other prominent names in the industry, including SPB Charan, Tippu, Anuradha Sriram, Andrea Jeremiah, Saindhavi, and Yogi B. Directors Lokesh Kanagaraja and Atlee are also expected to attend.
Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, began production on October 5, 2024, in Chennai.
