Unnao Rape Survivor Accuses IO of Collusion, Delivering Explosive Testimony to CBI Officials Regarding the Case.

The Unnao rape survivor and her mother met with officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday, December 27, 2025, to file a complaint alleging collusion between the investigating officer (IO) and a judge to favor the accused in the 2017 Unnao rape case. The survivor also accused the investigating officer of conducting a dishonest investigation with mala fide intentions and using forged documents in the chargesheet. She claimed that the IO deliberately manipulated facts to benefit the accused, former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

The survivor stated that the chargesheet falsely presented her as a student of a government school with an incorrect date of birth, when she had never attended that school. She further alleged that the chargesheet falsely attributed a mobile phone to her and included fabricated statements. The victim claimed she had filed a complaint earlier, but no action was taken against the officer. Citing the trial court's order convicting Sengar, she pointed out that the court had questioned the IO's recording of her statement, further indicating the officer's collusion with the accused.

The CBI has also moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's December 23, 2025, order that suspended Sengar's life sentence and granted him bail pending appeal. The CBI argued that the High Court's order did not adequately consider Sengar's past conduct and influence, posing a risk to the victim's safety and undermining public confidence in the justice system. The agency contends that releasing a powerful convict in such circumstances sends a troubling message regarding sexual violence cases against children.

Sengar was convicted in December 2019 for the 2017 rape and sentenced to life imprisonment with a fine. Despite the bail in the rape case, he remains in jail, serving a 10-year sentence in a separate CBI case related to the culpable homicide of the survivor's father. The High Court's decision to suspend Sengar's life sentence has faced criticism from the victim's family and opposition parties, increasing pressure for the Supreme Court's intervention.

Following the meeting with CBI officials, the Unnao rape survivor and her mother expressed their deep anguish and mistrust toward the CBI. The survivor's mother stated that their faith in the CBI would depend on the agency's support during the legal proceedings in the Supreme Court. The family also voiced concerns about their safety and well-being, stating they face intimidation and injustice.
