Karan Tacker has traversed a diverse path in the entertainment industry, taking on roles that have not only challenged him as an actor but also resonated deeply with audiences. Most recently, Tacker is headlining the paranormal thriller "Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery," now streaming on Amazon MX Player. In the series, Tacker portrays Gaurav Tiwari, India’s first paranormal investigator, and the show delves into Tiwari's life and work, exploring themes of fear, curiosity, and the unknown. Tacker described the show not as a conventional horror project, but a story about a man who spent his life walking into the unknown. He prepared for the role with sensitivity, understanding that he was portraying a real person whose life and legacy continue to intrigue many. "When you're playing a real person, you're always aware that there's a world that already exists, his family, his friends, the people who knew and loved him," Tacker said. "You're constantly conscious of being truthful and respectful. This wasn't about creating a fictitious character or just making a horror show; it was about honoring someone's real life and legacy". He focused on understanding Tiwari as a person – a pilot, a researcher, and a husband – rather than just chasing fear references.
Tacker has also spoken about a particularly transformative experience while filming a pivotal scene in "Bhay". He shared how imagining a life cut short and the people one leaves behind introduced him to an emotion he didn't know how to access. The feeling lingered long after the cameras stopped rolling, offering him an unsettling yet profound perspective on mortality.
Looking ahead, Tacker is keen to explore new and challenging roles. While promoting "Bhay," he expressed a desire to take on a mature love story, feeling ready to bring a certain emotional maturity to such a role. He candidly shared that maybe it's the romance that's missing in his real life. Rejecting numerous hero roles that don't excite him, Tacker emphasizes the importance of being drawn to a project to give his best performance.
