Dhanush's 'Kara' Revealed: First Look Unveiled, Igniting Fan Frenzy and Anticipation for the Upcoming Film

On the auspicious occasion of Pongal, the title of Dhanush's 54th film, previously known as "D54", has been revealed as Kara. The announcement was made by Vels Film International, the production house behind the film, accompanied by an intense first-look poster featuring Dhanush. The film is directed by Vignesh Raja.

The first-look poster depicts Dhanush in a rugged and intense avatar, set against a fiery backdrop. The poster includes the tagline, "Sometimes, staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive," hinting at the film's suspenseful and gritty nature. Vignesh Raja, the director, described Kara as "an emotionally rooted suspense thriller". The film is aiming for a summer release. However, other sources indicate a February 2026 release date.

Kara features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Veteran filmmaker and actor K S Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, and Prithvi Pandiraj will also play pivotal roles. GV Prakash is composing the music for the film.

Vignesh Raja, who is directing Kara, garnered acclaim for his debut film, the 2023 crime thriller Por Thozhil. Kara is written by Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash. The technical crew includes Then Eswar, Sreejith Sarang, and Mayapandi.

Vels Film International is producing Kara and marks their first collaboration with Dhanush. Dhanush was last seen in his directorial Idli Kadai in Tamil and Aanand L Rai's Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein.

Dhanush is also set to portray the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja in a biopic directed by Arun Matheswaran. He is also working with director Tamizharasan Pachaimuthu, with filming scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026.
