Pune, January 24, 2026 – Actor Atharv Karve, best known for his role in "Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar," is set to tie the knot with Marathi actress Sakshi Mahajan on February 6th in Pune. The couple's love story began on the set of the Marathi show "Vithu Mauli" in 2017, where they played husband and wife.
Karve, who portrayed the young Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Hindi-language drama series, confirmed the wedding details, revealing that pre-wedding celebrations including the Mehndi, Haldi, and Sangeet-cum-Engagement ceremonies will be held. "Considering our shooting schedules, it made sense to keep the celebrations concise and meaningful, spread over two days," Karve shared.
Atharv Karve was born on January 17, 2000. He began his career as a child artist, winning the title of "Maharashtracha Superstar". He has appeared in films such as "Harishchandrachi Factory" (2010) and "Balgandharva," where he played the role of young Balgandharva. In 2021, Karve took on the role of the older Bhimrao Ambedkar in "Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar".
Sakshi Mahajan, Karve's soon-to-be wife, has acted in shows such as "Kon Hotis Tu Kaay Zaalis Tu," "Majhi Manasa," and "Ude Ga Ambe". The couple's on-screen connection in "Vithu Mauli," where Karve portrayed Bhakt Pundalik and Mahajan played his wife Kusum, blossomed into a real-life romance.
Karve fondly recalls how their relationship started. "Sakshi portrayed my wife in the show produced by Mahesh Kothare. That was where we first met and also the first time I got married on screen," he said. He further added that Mahesh Kothare jokingly mentioned that he had seen Karve grow up and was now giving him the opportunity to get married on television. "None of us imagined that the girl I was marrying on screen would one day become my wife in real life".
Their bond strengthened even after "Vithu Mauli" concluded. Despite distance and demanding schedules, they remained emotionally connected and supportive of each other. "Often, relationships that begin on television sets change once the show wraps up, but for us it was different. We stood by each other through ups and downs, even during the lockdown. She was in her hometown, and I was in Pune, yet we stayed emotionally connected and supported each other," Karve explained.
Karve proposed to Mahajan with a simple gesture, greeting her at the airport with a bouquet and chocolate before asking her to be in a relationship. He describes Mahajan as a talented actress with a great sense of humor, noting that their contrasting personalities – he being an introvert and she an extrovert – have contributed to their strong connection.
