Actress Mouni Roy has made shocking allegations of harassment during a recent public appearance in Karnal, Haryana. The incident, which Roy described as "humiliating and traumatizing," occurred on January 24, 2026, and has prompted the actress to call for stricter safety measures for artists at public events.
Roy took to Instagram to share her distressing experience, detailing the events that unfolded as she approached the stage to begin her performance. According to her account, several male attendees, including elderly men, inappropriately touched her while feigning to take photographs. She stated that these men put their hands on her waist, and they did not appreciate it when she asked them to remove their hands.
The situation reportedly escalated once Roy was on stage. She alleges that two elderly men positioned themselves directly in front of the stage and began making lewd remarks, obscene gestures, and even resorted to name-calling. Roy also claimed that these individuals were attempting to record videos of her from a low angle. Despite her polite attempts to signal them to stop, their behavior persisted, and they allegedly began throwing roses at her.
Despite feeling disturbed and humiliated, Roy returned to the stage to complete her performance. She expressed disappointment that neither the event organizers nor family members intervened to remove the harassers from the front rows. Roy highlighted that the stage's elevation further exacerbated the issue, as it allowed the men to record her from a lower perspective. She also stated that when others asked them to stop, they were abused.
Reflecting on the incident, Roy voiced her concern for women in the entertainment industry, particularly those who are just starting their careers. She stated that if someone like her has to go through this, she can only imagine what new girls starting to work and do shows must be. She emphasized the need for authorities to take action against such behavior, which she deems intolerable. Roy further added that artists are guests and not targets.
This isn't the first time Mouni Roy has had to address claims of harassment. In 2018, she defended filmmaker Reema Kagti against accusations of harassment on the set of the film "Gold". Roy refuted the claims and condemned the maligning statements.
Roy is known for her roles in the television series "Naagin" and films such as "Gold" and "Made in China". Looking ahead, Mouni Roy is set to appear in "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai", scheduled for release in 2026.
