Lara Raj, the Indian member of the rising global pop group KATSEYE, is set to electrify the 68th Annual Grammy Awards with her debut performance. The awards, which honor recordings, compositions, and artists from late 2024 to late 2025, will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
KATSEYE, a six-member "global girl group" formed through HYBE and Geffen Records' reality competition series "The Debut: Dream Academy", has taken the music world by storm. The group comprises Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae, representing diverse cultural backgrounds from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States. Their journey was also chronicled in the Netflix docuseries, "Popstar Academy: KATSEYE".
The group debuted in June 2024 with their single "Debut", followed by the breakthrough single, "Touch". Their first EP, "SIS (Soft Is Strong)", was released later that year. In April 2025, they released "Gnarly", which became the lead single for their second EP, "Beautiful Chaos". "Beautiful Chaos" debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. The EP's second single "Gabriela" peaked within the top 40 of the Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The group is also nominated for Best New Artist.
KATSEYE's performance at the Grammys will be part of a special segment featuring all eight Best New Artist nominees. The group will share the stage with fellow nominees such as Addison Rae, Alex Warren, Leon Thomas, Olivia Dean, Sombr, and The Marías. It is yet to be revealed whether KATSEYE will perform their new single, "Internet Girl," or opt for a more mainstream hit like "Gnarly" or "Touch".
KATSEYE's nominations mark a significant moment for Asian and global girl groups on the Grammy stage. Lara Raj's presence, in particular, highlights the growing influence and recognition of South Asian artists in the global music scene. Other South Asian artists receiving nominations at the 2026 Grammys include Anoushka Shankar and Siddhant Bhatia.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards promises a night of exciting performances and well-deserved recognition for talented artists from diverse backgrounds. Alongside KATSEYE and the other Best New Artist nominees, the lineup includes Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Bieber. The ceremony will also feature a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, with performances by Post Malone, Duff McKagan, Slash, Chad Smith, and Andrew Watt.
