Ahan Shetty Faces Pressure Continuing Father Suniel Shetty's Legacy in Border 2: Acknowledges the Challenge.

Ahan Shetty is facing the pressure of living up to his father Suniel Shetty's legacy with his role in "Border 2". The film, a sequel to the 1997 war drama "Border," features Ahan as Lieutenant Commander Mahendra Singh Rawat, an Indian Navy officer.

Ahan acknowledges the inevitable comparisons to his father, who was a prominent part of the original "Border". In a recent interview, he spoke about the challenges of stepping into such a well-known franchise and the weight of expectations that come with it. "It's definitely a huge responsibility," Ahan admitted. "Border is a classic film, and my father is remembered for his role in it. I am trying my best to bring my own interpretation to the character while still honoring the spirit of the original."

According to reports, Ahan's portrayal in "Border 2" emphasizes restraint, depicting a young officer amidst conflict. Rather than trying to imitate Sunny Deol's commanding presence or the intense emotions of his co-stars, Ahan has chosen a more subdued approach, focusing on physical discipline and understated emotional expression.

"Border 2" was released on January 23, 2026, and has become a box office success, earning ₹440.55 crore against a budget of ₹275 crore. The film expands upon its predecessor by showcasing the combined operations of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, featuring the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The movie stars Sunny Deol, along with Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. The film also features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana in pivotal roles.

Ahan's journey in Bollywood began with "Tadap" in 2021, for which he received the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male. After "Tadap", Ahan took a four-year hiatus during which he didn't sign any films. Ahan's father, Suniel Shetty, addressed rumors about Ahan's absence from films, particularly regarding the shelved project "Sanki". Suniel refuted claims that Ahan was dropped from the project due to excessive entourage costs, dismissing them as rumors.

Ahan's performance in "Border 2" has been described as a soldier finding his footing, balancing vulnerability with determination. In a film that often highlights spectacle, his most impactful moments are those away from the battlefield, conveying the psychological impact of duty with subtlety.
