Usha Uthup's Joy: Reflecting on the Rambha Ho Remake in Ranveer Singh's Upcoming Film

Veteran singer Usha Uthup has expressed her delight over the reimagined version of her iconic song "Rambha Ho" in Ranveer Singh's latest film, Dhurandhar. The original track, from the 1981 film Armaan, has been given a new lease of life by music director Shashwat Sachdev and sung by Madhubanti Bagchi.

Uthup shared her initial reaction upon hearing the rehashed version, stating, "Somebody sent me the link. So I said, 'Wow! What is this! It's fabulous.' I'm not one of those people who feels bad somebody else sang this. I'm very happy". She further emphasized her belief that "the song is much bigger than the singer," and that anyone who sings "Rambha Ho" will find success.

The singer also revealed that the filmmakers did not seek her blessing before recreating the song. However, Uthup holds no resentment, আনন্দ the new rendition. She lauded Madhubanti Bagchi's rendition, saying, "Madhubanti has done a fabulous job". Uthup and Bagchi even created a reel together at Trincas, a popular nightclub in Kolkata.

Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, was released on December 5 and has reportedly grossed ₹1200 crore at the worldwide box office. The film is a spy action thriller, and the remixed version of "Rambha Ho" is used in one of the action sequences. The background score, including the "Rambha Ho" remix, has been praised for contributing to the film's success.

Uthup has been consistently performing "Rambha Ho" in her concerts for over four decades. She believes that Dhurandhar has amplified the song's popularity. "Every show of mine, in any case, I have to sing 'Rambha Ho.' But now, it's with a new force, and all thank god for Dhurandhar for making it so popular," she said. She also acknowledged the song's popularity on social media, noting the millions of hits it receives on platforms like Instagram.

Uthup has expressed that remixes can extend a song's lifetime, ensuring that melodies are not lost. She clarified that she doesn't consider the Dhurandhar version a remix but appreciates its contribution to the song's renewed popularity.

Interestingly, a video of actress Saumya Tandon singing "Rambha Ho" on her show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain has also resurfaced and gone viral, coinciding with the song's resurgence due to Dhurandhar. Tandon, who plays Akshaye Khanna's wife in Dhurandhar, portrayed Anita Tiwari in the comedy show from 2015 to 2020.
