The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail plea of Shivam Dubey, who is an accused in the Bikru massacre case. The Uttar Pradesh government's counsel argued that Dubey submitted a false affidavit, concealing his criminal history, and that a case under the Gangster Act is pending against him.

The Bikru massacre occurred on July 3, 2020, in Bikru village, Kanpur, resulting in the death of eight police personnel. The police officers were ambushed by gangster Vikas Dubey and his associates while on their way to arrest him. Following the event, Vikas Dubey was killed on July 10, 2020, while allegedly attempting to escape from police custody after a police vehicle bringing him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident.

Shivam Dubey's alleged role in the massacre and the subsequent rejection of his bail plea highlight the ongoing legal proceedings and scrutiny surrounding the Bikru massacre case. Another accused in the same case, Krishna Kumar Sharma, a sub-inspector and police outpost in-charge, had his sixth bail application rejected by the Allahabad High Court on August 14, 2025. The court rejected Sharma's bail plea, stating that the sixth application was filed too soon after the fifth rejection and that no new grounds were presented.

In June 2025, the Allahabad High Court granted bail to Vinay Kumar Tiwari, a former station house officer of Chaubepur in Kanpur, who was also an accused in the Bikru ambush case. Tiwari allegedly informed Vikas Dubey about the impending police raid. The court considered that the trial would conclude soon and that the prosecution took a long time to commence the trial. It was also argued that there was no credible evidence against Tiwari proving he informed Dubey or had a relationship with him and that a number of co-accused had also been granted bail.
