On the 76th Independence Day, the Prime Minister addressed the nation from the Red Fort, marking a day of historic importance and a moment to step forward with new resolutions and strength. He extended his heartfelt greetings to Indians across the globe, emphasizing the significance of the Amrit Mahotsav, a celebration of freedom.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the brave hearts who sacrificed themselves during the struggle for independence, acknowledging the debt owed to them and pledging to fulfill their dreams. He expressed gratitude to figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Veer Savarkar, who dedicated their lives to the nation. The revolutionaries, including Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh, and Rani Lakshmibai, were also remembered for their contributions to shaking the foundations of British rule.
A key focus of the address was the resolve to make India a developed nation in the next 25 years. The Prime Minister called upon the youth to take "Panch Pran" (five pledges) for a developed India, aiming to fulfill the dreams of freedom fighters by 2047, the 100th year of India's Independence. The first pledge is to move forward with bigger resolutions and the resolve of a developed India, and the second is to erase all traces of servitude.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of self-reliance in the energy sector, advocating for initiatives ranging from solar energy to Mission Hydrogen and the adoption of electric vehicles. He urged the private sector to be more "vocal for local" and boost domestic manufacturing, especially in the EV sector, highlighting the importance of Atmanirbharta (self-sufficiency) for national security.
Addressing challenges, the Prime Minister identified corruption and nepotism as major issues that need to be fought. He emphasized the need to shift the mentality from "Bhai Bhatijawad" (favoritism) and Parivaarwad (dynastic politics) to give opportunities to deserving citizens. He also promoted competitive cooperative federalism, encouraging a healthy spirit of competition among states.
The role of women in India's growth was also a key point, with the Prime Minister emphasizing the importance of respecting and supporting Nari Shakti (women power). He also touched upon promoting organic farming to create "green jobs".
The Prime Minister highlighted that India is emerging as an aspirational society, which is the biggest asset for any nation. He noted that every corner of India is brimming with aspirations. He also noted the importance of remembering Maharishi Aurobindo's call for "Swadeshi to Swaraj" and "Swaraj to Suraj", urging people to consider how long the nation will be dependent on others.
