RSS Chief: Indian Muslims & Christians Share Ancestry; No True Hindu Identity Exists

Bengaluru, November 8, 2025 – Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated on Saturday that there is no "Ahindu" (non-Hindu) in India, as everyone is a descendant of the same ancestors, and the core culture of the country is Hindu. Bhagwat made these remarks while delivering a lecture on "100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons" in Bengaluru.

Bhagwat argued that all Muslims and Christians are descendants of the same ancestors, though they may not know it or have been made to forget it. He asserted that Hindus are responsible for Bharat (India), emphasizing the RSS's aim to organize Hindu society for the nation's glory, not for power. He said the RSS aims to serve and organize society for the glory of Bharat Mata and that people are now starting to believe in the organization.

Bhagwat explained that the reason the RSS focuses on Hindu society is that Hindus are responsible for Bharat. He stated that India is an ancient nation, not a nation created by the British. He added that every nation has a core culture, and for Bharat, that core is Hindu.

Bhagwat highlighted that the RSS wants to unite the Hindu society, which is why Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation). He clarified that this does not contradict the Constitution but aligns with it. He also mentioned that the RSS has started dialogues with those who do not identify as Hindus.

Bhagwat categorized Hindu society into four groups: those who are proud to call themselves Hindus; those who identify as Hindu but question its significance; those who know they are Hindus but don't admit it publicly; and those who have forgotten they are Hindus. He emphasized that uniting the entire society is the RSS's mission and that there is no such thing as an "Ahindu".

Bhagwat further said that Hindu society is at its peak and has always wanted to unite the world. He added that this unity was achieved because ancestors found a connection between all creation and humanity. He urged people to accept others, remain steadfast in their own way, live together, and progress together, emphasizing that differing paths should not lead to conflict.

Bhagwat recalled the opposition the RSS has faced over the decades, including bans and attacks on its members. Despite these challenges, the organization has grown through the dedication and sacrifice of its volunteers, without any external support. As the RSS approaches its centenary, its focus is on reaching every village and social group across castes and communities. Bhagwat emphasized the importance of Hindus realizing their responsibility towards Bharat. He also advocated for creating an Indian life model based on morality and compassion that the world can learn from and adopt.
