Ranveer Singh has reportedly exited Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, choosing to prioritize other projects following the overwhelming success of his recent film Dhurandhar. Sources indicate that Singh is now focusing on Pralay, a zombie thriller directed by Jai Mehta.

Dhurandhar's impressive performance, nearing ₹600 crore at the box office, has seemingly influenced Singh's decision. Insiders suggest that the actor is now very clear about the kind of films he wants to pursue. He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee. Singh is also reportedly looking to diversify his roles and avoid being typecast in back-to-back gangster films, especially with Dhurandhar already establishing him in that genre.

According to reports, Singh was initially scheduled to begin preparations for Don 3 immediately after the release of Dhurandhar. However, given the current circumstances, the film's production has been delayed.

Several factors are said to have contributed to Singh's departure from Don 3. These include scheduling conflicts, a desired increase in remuneration following Dhurandhar's success, and his commitment to Dhurandhar 2. A source revealed that Singh would need to shoot additional portions for Dhurandhar 2 in early 2026, prompting him to prioritize Pralay, a genre largely unexplored in Hindi cinema. While talks regarding Don 3's dates had been ongoing for months, both Singh and the filmmakers eventually needed clarity. It is also suggested that Singh's request for a higher remuneration after the success of Dhurandhar did not align with Don 3's budget.

A formal meeting took place on December 19th, attended by Singh, his management team, Farhan Akhtar, and producer Ritesh Sidhwani. By December 20th, it became clear that the collaboration would not proceed. Consequently, on December 22nd, Ritesh Sidhwani informed the department heads involved in pre-production about Singh's exit and the postponement of the February shooting schedule.

Pralay, directed by Jai Mehta, is described as a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller centered around a man's determination to protect his family. Singh is reportedly personally involved in aligning the dates and schedules for Pralay to expedite the project.

Meanwhile, the Don 3 team is reportedly searching for a new lead actor. Kriti Sanon has been finalized as the female lead. The film is expected to be a large-scale production with filming locations across Europe. Don 3 aims to mark a new era in the Don universe. The Don franchise has previously been led by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
