Delhi is poised to undergo a significant transformation in 2026, with a multitude of infrastructure projects set to reshape the city's landscape and improve the lives of its residents. These projects span various sectors, including transportation, real estate, and public works, reflecting a comprehensive approach to urban development.

Transportation Network Overhaul

A key focus of Delhi's upgrade is its transportation network. The Delhi Metro is set to expand with the opening of three new corridors, including extensions of the Pink and Magenta Lines, as well as the new Golden Line. In addition, construction is slated to begin on two more metro corridors next year, further enhancing regional connectivity. The entire 82km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is also expected to open soon.

In a major initiative to improve the city's road infrastructure, the Delhi government has embarked on a ₹950-crore plan to reconstruct 415 kilometers of deteriorating roads across the city. Key stretches such as Outer Ring Road, Mathura Road, Najafgarh Road, and Vikas Marg are slated to receive a facelift. The government has set an ambitious target of repairing 500 km of roads in the upcoming financial year. The scope of the project includes not just the reconstruction of roads but also the repair and development of footpaths and drainage systems. The government aims to rebuild a total of 1,150 kilometers of roads across Delhi by November 2026. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been working on extensive repair and resurfacing of approximately 500 km of damaged roads across Delhi by March 2026.

Real Estate and Housing Developments

The real estate sector in Delhi NCR is also expected to witness significant activity in 2026. Several new projects are slated for completion, offering a mix of housing options from affordable homes to luxury apartments. M3M Antalya Hills in Sector 79, Gurgaon, is one such project poised to offer luxurious living with well-designed 2 and 3 BHK apartments. Smartworld One DXP in Sector 113, Gurgaon, stands out with its smart home technology integration, offering 3, 4, and 5 BHK high-tech apartments. These projects are characterized by modern amenities, eco-friendly designs, and good transport links, catering to the evolving needs of homebuyers and investors.

Focus on Sustainability and Smart Technologies

Several key trends are shaping the real estate landscape in Delhi NCR for 2026. These include the increasing integration of IoT systems, centralized controls, and high-speed connectivity in residential projects. A focus on green-certified buildings, rainwater harvesting, and solar-powered installations is also becoming standard.

Other Key Infrastructure Projects

Apart from transportation and real estate, Delhi is also focusing on other key infrastructure projects. The Delhi government is working towards eliminating Delhi's garbage mountains and has inaugurated Delhi's first biogas plant, with plans to establish more such plants. There are also plans to set up plants for e-waste management. The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to vacate the Yamuna floodplain area by March 31, 2026, ensuring that the area is restored to its original condition.

These upgrades include widening, rehabilitation, resurfacing, and strengthening of key arterial thoroughfares such as Kashmiri Gate–Wazirabad Road, Vikas Marg (ITO to D-93), and Ferozeshah Road, as well as flyovers and connectors in Shahdara and East Delhi.

With these comprehensive infrastructure upgrades underway, Delhi is set to offer its residents an enhanced quality of life, improved connectivity, and a more sustainable urban environment by 2026.
