Ayodhya, December 31, 2025 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commemorated the second anniversary of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya today. The celebrations, marked by religious fervor and a massive influx of devotees, saw Singh hoist a flag at the Maa Annapurna temple, one of the seven temples within the Ram Temple complex.
The day began with Singh and Adityanath offering prayers at the Hanumangarhi Temple before proceeding to the Ram Temple complex. Following this, they participated in the Pran Pratishtha Dwadashi program, with Singh serving as the chief 'yajman' (host). The 'Pran Pratishtha Dwadashi' rituals are scheduled to continue until Friday, with religious ceremonies having commenced on Saturday.
The event follows the program on November 25, 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a saffron flag atop the Ram Temple, signifying the formal completion of its construction. The original Pran Pratishtha ceremony, led by Prime Minister Modi, took place on January 22, 2024, marking the installation of the Ram Lalla idol in the temple.
Security was heightened in Ayodhya in anticipation of the large number of devotees. A Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust office-bearer estimated that approximately five to six lakh devotees are expected to visit Ayodhya for the second-anniversary celebrations. VIP pass issuance was suspended until Thursday, with entry for 'darshan' of Ram Lalla only permitted through the main entrance. Vehicle entry into Ayodhya was also restricted, with 36 designated parking zones established on the city's outskirts. To manage the crowds, around 3,000 police personnel from outside the district were deployed to Ayodhya.
The second anniversary holds immense significance, with many leaders sharing their thoughts on the occasion. Prime Minister Modi wrote on 'X' (formerly Twitter), "Today, the second anniversary of the consecration of Ram Lalla is being celebrated on the sacred land of Ayodhya. This anniversary is a divine celebration of our faith and values. On this sacred occasion, on behalf of all Ram devotees from India and abroad, I offer my heartfelt obeisance and respect to Lord Shri Ram! My infinite best wishes to all my countrymen". Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his congratulations on the second anniversary of Pran Pratishtha, highlighting the temple as a symbol of restored ideals and an inspiration for cultural preservation.
