Netflix's hit series Adolescence, which captivated audiences with its gripping narrative, might be returning for a second season. Stephen Graham, the co-creator and star of the show, hinted at the possibility while backstage at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

Originally conceived as a limited series, Adolescence garnered significant attention and critical acclaim. The show dominated awards ceremonies, including the Golden Globes, where it secured multiple wins. Owen Cooper won for Best Supporting Actor, Erin Doherty for Best Supporting Actress, and Stephen Graham himself for Best Actor. The series also won Best Limited Series at the Golden Globes.

Adolescence was a major success for Netflix, becoming one of its most-viewed series in the first half of 2025. It received 13 Emmy nominations, ultimately winning eight, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The four-part series tells the story of Eddie Miller (Stephen Graham), whose life is shattered when his 13-year-old son Jamie (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a schoolgirl.

When asked about a potential second season, Graham stated that the idea was "somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned". This response suggests that he and co-creator Jack Thorne are indeed considering a continuation of the series.

While nothing is confirmed, there have been discussions about the direction a second season could take. One possibility is that it could shift its focus to a new story, potentially transforming Adolescence into an anthology series. Some fans have suggested exploring the perspective of the victim's parents or focusing on an entirely new group of characters. Hannah Walters, Graham's wife, producing partner, and Adolescence co-star, has ruled out the possibility of a prequel.
