Ahan Shetty is expressing gratitude and admiration for his "Border 2" co-stars, particularly Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan. In a heartfelt social media post on January 22, 2026, ahead of the film's January 23 release, Shetty described Deol as a "true father figure" and Dhawan as an "older brother," highlighting the strong bonds he formed during the movie's production.
Shetty conveyed immense respect for Deol, emphasizing the veteran actor's "quiet strength, humility, and unwavering dedication" on set. He noted that Deol embodies a powerful legacy while remaining deeply human, which Shetty found incredibly grounding. Ahan also shared that his father, Suniel Shetty, refers to Sunny Deol as "Sunny Paa," further illustrating the deep regard the Shetty family has for him. According to Ahan, Sunny Deol supported and motivated him throughout the making of "Border 2". He also acknowledged that "Border 2" is very much Sunny Deol's film, with himself, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh as supporting pillars.
Turning to Varun Dhawan, Ahan expressed that he looks up to him as an older brother and is grateful for the love and support Dhawan provided throughout their shared journey. He commended Dhawan's focus, sincerity, and generosity, stating that Dhawan consistently gave more than what was asked of him. In July 2025, Ahan had also shared a photo from the sets of 'Border 2' featuring Varun Dhawan, referring to him and others in the picture as his "brothers".
Ahan Shetty didn't limit his praise to just Deol and Dhawan. He also expressed gratitude towards Diljit Dosanjh, who he said embraced him like a younger brother and constantly encouraged him. He appreciated Dosanjh's warmth, kindness, laughter, and the positive energy he brought to the set, reminding him that joy is as vital as hard work. Ahan also acknowledged Mona Singh, calling her an inspiring, genuinely kind, and grounded human being.
"Border 2," directed by Anurag Singh, is a sequel to the 1997 film "Border," in which Ahan's father, Suniel Shetty, starred. The film is inspired by the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Afghanistan cricket captain Rashid Khan has also expressed his intention to watch "Border 2".
