Mohanlal has ignited excitement among fans by offering a glimpse into his character in the upcoming movie, previously known as "L360," now officially titled Thudarum. The film, marking Mohanlal's 360th project, is directed by Tharun Moorthy, celebrated for his work in Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka.
The first look poster, shared by Mohanlal on his social media accounts, features the actor in a gritty and intense avatar, hinting at a departure from his recent roles. This has significantly raised expectations for Thudarum, which is touted as a family entertainer blending action, comedy, and emotion.
In Thudarum, Mohanlal will be seen as Shanmugham, a taxi driver from Ranni in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. Shanmugham is deeply attached to his old Ambassador car and deals with generalized anxiety disorder, adding complexity to the character. Director Tharun Moorthy has suggested that Mohanlal will be presented in a way audiences have long desired to see.
Adding to the film's appeal is the reunion of Mohanlal with Shobana, a beloved on-screen pair, after a gap of 15 years. Shobana is expected to play Mohanlal's wife in the movie. The film boasts a strong supporting cast, including Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Nandhu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Krishna Praba, Prakash Varma, and Aravind.
Thudarum is produced by M Renjith under the Rejaputhra Visual Media banner. The film's script is penned by Tharun Moorthy and KR Sunil. Shooting for Thudarum wrapped up after 99 days, covering locations in Chennai, Palakkad, Theni, and Thodupuzha.
While initial reports suggested a late 2024 release, Thudarum is now expected to hit theaters in January 2025.
