Randeep Hooda's recent appearance sporting a prominent moustache and a bulked-up physique has ignited speculation about his upcoming role in the period biopic, Eetha, alongside Shraddha Kapoor. The actor was recently seen in Mumbai, showcasing this striking new look after a shoot. Sources suggest that this transformation is specifically for his role in Eetha.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Eetha is reportedly based on the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, an influential figure in the Tamasha and Lavani folk traditions of Maharashtra. The film aims to bring to the forefront a powerful and culturally rich story rooted in Indian history. Shraddha Kapoor is expected to play the titular character, while Randeep Hooda will play the male protagonist and her romantic interest. The film is currently in production, with shooting taking place in Mumbai and other locations across Maharashtra.
Hooda is known for his dedication to his roles, often undergoing significant physical transformations to authentically portray his characters. His commitment has earned him a reputation as one of the most dedicated performers in Indian cinema. This isn't the first time Hooda has altered his appearance for a role; he previously grew a thick beard and moustache for a film where he played a soldier. While such transformations enhance his performances, they have also, at times, led to him missing out on other projects and endorsements. In the past, Hooda shaved off his moustache after completing his role in the biopic Sarbjit.
The collaboration between Hooda and Kapoor is anticipated to bring a fresh dynamic to the narrative. Utekar, who recently directed Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal, is expected to bring his directorial expertise to this biographical drama.
In addition to Eetha, Randeep Hooda has several other projects in the pipeline. He will be seen in the American action-adventure comedy Matchbox, directed by Sam Hargrave, scheduled for release in 2026. Hooda has also secured the rights to "Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army's Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad" by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia. He will portray Major General Raj Pal Punia in the film Operation Khukri, which will depict the real-life events of the 2000 hostage situation and rescue mission in Sierra Leone.
On a personal note, Randeep Hooda and his wife, Lin Laishram, are expecting their first child. The couple announced the news on Instagram in November 2025. They officially announced their relationship in 2022 and married in a traditional Meitei ceremony in Manipur on November 29, 2023.
