Delhiites can expect a respite from the heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall for Delhi on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The forecast includes cloudy skies throughout the day with the possibility of on and off rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Temperature and Humidity

The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 30°C, while the minimum will stay near 26°C. While temperatures will be slightly lower, high humidity levels could make the weather feel warmer than the actual temperature. The mercury level is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

Rainfall Details

According to the weather forecasting service Windy, Delhi is expected to receive 0.2 to 2.7 mm of rainfall on Tuesday. The IMD classifies rainfall as 'light' when it is up to 15.5mm and 'moderate' when it is between 15.6mm and 64.4mm.

Weather Outlook for the Week

The IMD expects a cloudy sky and very light to light rain over the next seven days, with light to moderate showers likely on August 5.

  • Wednesday, August 6: Light rain is likely in the morning, followed by cloudy skies for the rest of the day.
  • Thursday, August 7: Partly cloudy during the day and clear with periodic clouds at night.
  • Friday, August 8: Mostly cloudy during the day and cloudy at night.
  • Saturday, August 9: Light rain during the day and thunderstorms at night.
  • Sunday, August 10: Heavy thunderstorms during the day and mostly cloudy at night.
  • Monday, August 11: Cloudy during the day and cloudy at night.

Advisory

Residents are advised to keep umbrellas and raincoats handy, especially during the early morning and evening hours. It is also recommended to plan outdoor activities during dry periods and stay hydrated.

Air Quality

The rains are expected to improve the air quality. The Commission for Air Quality Management has stated that Delhi witnessed the best AQI in July 2025 since 2018 due to favorable conditions.

Other States

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall across multiple states and has issued 'orange' and 'yellow' alerts for Kerala through August 8. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted in Himachal Pradesh from Monday through August 6. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Bihar from August 4 to 9.
