External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the CEO of DP World, in New York on September 24, 2025, to discuss connectivity and global trade. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During their discussion, Jaishankar and Bin Sulayem exchanged views on the shifts in the global economy and how these changes are impacting connectivity and logistics. DP World is a significant player in global trade and operates a network of ports, terminals, and logistics facilities around the world. Their discussion likely centered on how current geopolitical and economic trends are reshaping trade routes, supply chains, and logistics operations.

In addition to his meeting with the DP World CEO, EAM Jaishankar also participated in a meeting of EU foreign ministers. At this meeting, he addressed several critical issues, including multilateralism, the conflict in Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, energy security, and trade. India's perspectives on these issues were reportedly highly valued by the other participants.

Jaishankar also hosted a high-level meeting of Like-Minded Global South Countries, also on the sidelines of the UNGA. The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration, solidarity, and multilateral engagement among developing nations. Key global issues discussed included climate justice, digital technology, and the urgent need for multilateral reforms. Jaishankar emphasized the need for multilateralism to tackle global concerns and risks facing developing nations. He also proposed utilizing existing forums to strengthen consultations among the Global South, bringing specific strengths and experiences to benefit fellow nations.

These meetings and discussions highlight India's active engagement in global affairs and its focus on strengthening relationships with key partners in trade, logistics, and international cooperation.
