The highly anticipated first single from Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, is reportedly set to be released on Diwali. This news has created a buzz among fans eager for a glimpse into the musical landscape of what is potentially Vijay's final film before he transitions to a full-time political career.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, is slated for a grand worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026. The film, which was previously known as Thalapathy 69, is being touted as a "fitting farewell" to Vijay's illustrious career in cinema.

Adding to the excitement surrounding the first single is the rumor that it will be an intro song sung by Vijay himself. If confirmed, this would be a special treat for fans, as Vijay has a memorable, albeit rare, discography as a playback singer. The music for Jana Nayagan is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, known as "Rockstar Anirudh," who has delivered numerous chart-topping hits with Vijay in the past. Their previous collaborations include popular songs like "Selfie Pulla," "Kutty Story," and "Naa Ready".

The film has Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in lead roles. The ensemble cast includes Mamita Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Jana Nayagan is anticipated to be a political action drama. Reportedly, the film will feature a massive finale where Vijay's character will battle multiple humanoids, seemingly exploring the theme of "Humans vs AI". There are also rumors of cameo appearances by directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee, and Nelson Dilip Kumar in a special song, adding to the film's celebratory send-off vibe.

The pre-release business of Jana Nayagan is already setting new benchmarks. The film is made on a ₹300 crore (US$35 million) budget. Popular OTT platform Z5 is reportedly in talks to acquire the digital streaming rights for a record deal. Romeo Pictures Raahul is said to have acquired the Tamil Nadu distribution rights for an unprecedented sum, making it the biggest-ever deal for a Tamil film in the region. The film is expected to capitalize on the Pongal holiday.

Director H Vinoth has described Jana Nayagan as a mass-packed, emotional, and family-friendly entertainer, and a "pakka farewell film" for Vijay. The film is in its final phase of post-production.

An audio launch event is expected to take place in Malaysia on December 27, 2025.
