Begusarai Rally: Priyanka Gandhi Pushes MGB Vision for Bihar 2025
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched her campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections in Begusarai on November 1, 2025, energizing the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) campaign. The Congress leader is set to address multiple rallies across the state, focusing on women and youth voters, aiming to bring women's issues back into the political conversation and infuse new energy into the campaign.
The MGB, consisting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Indian National Congress (INC), and Left parties, is vying to unseat the incumbent National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. With the election dates set for November 6 and November 11, political activity in Bihar is intensifying.
Gandhi's campaign is strategically focused on key constituencies. Her presence in Begusarai is particularly significant. Besides Begusarai and Khagaria on November 1, her itinerary includes rallies in Lakhisarai and Rosra on November 3, Govindganj and Chanpatia on November 6, and Kadwa and Kasba on November 8.
The Mahagathbandhan has already released its manifesto, titled "Bihar ka Tejashwi Prann," outlining its vision for the state. Key promises include providing one government job per family within 20 days of forming the government, restoring the Old Pension Scheme, and providing ₹2,500 monthly for women under the Mai-Behin Maan Yojana, along with 200 units of free electricity. The manifesto also pledges to address unemployment, migration, and lawlessness, blaming these issues on the current NDA government.
Tejashwi Yadav, the MGB's chief ministerial face, has described the manifesto as his personal "pran patra" (resolve document), emphasizing the practicality of the promises made. The MGB aims to transform Bihar into India's top-performing state. The manifesto also vows to protect Bihar's interests amid central policies.
In response to the MGB's manifesto launch, NDA leaders have dismissed the promises as empty. Union Minister Chirag Paswan quipped, "What's the harm in lying if they don't expect to win?".
The Congress party is making a significant effort to support the MGB, with Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge also scheduled to lead rallies across Bihar. Despite some tensions within the Mahagathbandhan regarding seat-sharing, these leaders aim to present a united front. Rahul Gandhi has already launched the joint campaign with Tejashwi Yadav.
Priyanka Gandhi's focus on women voters is particularly noteworthy. Her campaign seeks to re-energize the Congress base and consolidate the party's position in the state. The Congress aims to strengthen the Mahagathbandhan's prospects and increase its presence in weaker constituencies through these rallies.
Political strategist Prashant Kishor has offered a different perspective on the election dynamics, suggesting that the main contest will be between the NDA and his own Jan Suraj Dal, rather than the MGB. He aims to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming election.
As the Bihar Assembly elections draw near, the political atmosphere is charged with activity. The rallies by key leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, Amit Shah, and J.P. Nadda highlight the intense competition between the MGB and the NDA. The election results, scheduled to be announced on November 14, will reveal whether the Mahagathbandhan's vision for Bihar 2025 resonates with the voters.
