Bihar Braces for Exit Poll Projections as Voting Concludes with 67% Turnout
Patna, November 11, 2025 – As the final votes were cast in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, all eyes are now on the exit poll results, which are expected to provide the first glimpse into the possible outcome of this highly contested election. The second and final phase of voting concluded today with an impressive 67.14% voter turnout recorded until 5 pm, provisionally the highest-ever recorded turnout at the close of polling. This figure is expected to rise slightly as officials account for voters who were still in queues at the close of polls.
Today's polling covered 122 crucial constituencies spread across 20 districts, including the Mithila, Kosi belt, western Bihar, Magadh, Angika, and Seemanchal regions. The Election Commission of India (ECI) reported that voting proceeded smoothly, with elaborate arrangements in place to ensure a secure and fair electoral process.
The impressive voter turnout signals a strong interest in the outcome of this election, which pits the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP and JD(U), against the Mahagathbandhan, spearheaded by the RJD and Congress. Twelve ministers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's cabinet are among the 1,302 candidates contesting in this phase, adding further weight to the stakes.
District-wise, Kishanganj recorded the highest voter turnout at 76.26%, followed by Katihar (75.23%), Purnia (73.79%), and Supaul (70.69%). Other districts with notable participation include Purvi Champaran (69.02%) and Banka (68.91%). Nawada recorded the lowest turnout at 57.11%.
The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, held on November 6, saw a record-breaking voter turnout of 64.66%.
As the polling concluded, media organizations geared up to release their exit poll projections. The ECI had barred the release of any exit poll data before 6:30 pm. Several leading agencies, including Axis My India, CVoter, SOS, Jan Ki Baat, and Today's Chanakya, are expected to present their forecasts.
Exit polls are surveys conducted with voters immediately after they have cast their ballots. While not definitive, they offer an early indication of the electorate's mood and potential electoral trends. However, it's important to remember that exit poll predictions can vary and may not always align with the final results.
The results of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be closely watched, as they could have significant implications for the political landscape of the state and the country. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 14.
In addition to the Bihar Assembly Elections, bypolls were also held today in eight Assembly constituencies across six other states and one Union Territory.
