The war drama Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, has taken the box office by storm, earning approximately ₹30 crore net in India on its opening day. This impressive debut marks the second-highest opening for Sunny Deol, surpassed only by Gadar 2.

The film, also featuring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, has been released in theaters worldwide across 4500 screens. Border 2 has generated considerable buzz, particularly given the upcoming long weekend with Republic Day.

Prior to its release, Border 2 had already secured an All-India gross of ₹12.5 crore for its opening day, driven by the sale of 409,117 tickets across 16,221 shows nationwide. The Hindi 2D version contributed approximately ₹12.45 crore to this total. Factoring in blocked seats, the overall advance booking total climbed to ₹17.5 crore.

The film has surpassed the opening day numbers of Dhurandhar, which earned ₹27 crore on its first day. For the past month and a half, Dhurandhar had dominated the box office, but with the release of Border 2, the Ranveer Singh starrer experienced a decline in its seventh week.

The success of Border 2's opening day is attributed to the iconic status of the first film and the anticipation surrounding the sequel. The inclusion of recreated iconic tracks from the original Border, combined with new compositions and background scores, is expected to amplify the film's impact. Performances by the supporting cast, including Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa, have also been noted.
